SurveyMonkey Login Updates | SurveyMonkey (2024)

We're updating the way you log in to SurveyMonkey to make it simpler and more secure. Soon, you'll log in using your email address instead of a username. This article has details to help you prepare for the transition.

What's Changing

We're transitioning to logging in with your email address instead of username. If you have multiple SurveyMonkey accounts with the same email address, they will be linked. This way, you can log in once then switch between your accounts.

This affects:

  • SurveyMonkey desktop and mobile apps
  • SurveyMonkey Rewards
  • SurveyMonkey Contribute

What's not changing

  • Your plan(s), billing details, or payment methods are not changing.
  • Your surveys and survey responses will stay separate.
  • If you have multiple accounts, they will stay separated by username. The difference is, you'll log in once with your email address and be able to switch between them.
  • If you log in with SSO, your SSO account will stay separate.

Login to your account, and make sure you're able to access all your accounts, go to the My Account page and confirm your email address on file is valid, up to date, and one you have access to. If it's not, please update it so you're able to log in after the transition.

Accounts will be linked by email address. If you have multiple SurveyMonkey accounts, check the email address for all of them. If you have accounts you don't want linked, change the email address to one that isn't on another SurveyMonkey account.

Linking Multiple Accounts

Multiple accounts onlyThis section only applies if you have multiple usernames associated with the same email address. If you only have one username associated with your email address, you won't need to follow these steps.

Depending on where you're located, when you log in after June 13 or June 20th, 2022, you will need to verify your email address and set up one password for all SurveyMonkey accounts associated with it. You'll only need to do this process once:

  1. On the login page, enter your email address instead of your username. This is the email address you have listed on your SurveyMonkey account.
  2. Follow the prompts to verify your email address and create a new password. Then you can review your linked accounts and choose one to log in to.
  3. You're all set! Next time you log in, use your email address and new password to access all your accounts in one place.

Not getting the verification email?Check your spam or junk folder. If you still don't see it, add ourIP addresses and email domainsto your allow list, then request another code to make sure it comes through.

How to switch between accounts

After you've logged in and verified your email address, you can choose which account you want to log into. When you're ready to switch, click your email/username at the top right of your account and clickSwitch accounts. Then choose which account you want to go to next.

If you don't see a username on this list, it may mean there's a different email address associated with it. You need to log in with that email address to access that account. SSO accounts stay separate and won't appear on the list.

Common Questions

  • Can I opt out?

You can skip the log in process untilSeptember 2022. After the deadline, you’ll need to log in using your email address and reset your password. If you have multiple accounts, your accounts will automatically be linked at this time.

  • I can't access or don't know the email address on file.

Each account needs a valid email address on file that only one person has access to. If you don't have access to the email address on your account, we recommend clickingDo this laterorForgot Emailwhen logging in. This will allow you to log in with your username so you canchange the email address on fileto your current one. Then next time you log in, use that email address.

  • Can I combine my accounts?

All accounts will remain separate, meaning all surveys and data will stay in the accounts matching the username they were in prior to accounts being linked. If you want to move everything to one account, we recommendtransferring all surveysinto one account.

  • I can't find my surveys.

Changing the way you log in will not affect surveys in any way. All surveys will stay in the account they were in prior to this change.

If you can't find one of your surveys, it's likely in a different account. Try switching between accounts to find it. It's also possible that the survey is in an account associated with a different email address. To check, try logging in with an alternate email address.

  • I’m using the SurveyMonkey mobile app and want to switch accounts.

To switch to another account that uses your same email address:

    1. Log out and close the mobile app.
    2. Open a mobile browser and chooseSwitch accountfrom the dropdown menu in the top right corner.
    3. Select another account.
    4. Launch the SurveyMonkey app again.
  • I am using an email address as a user name, but have a different email address as my contact email.

You may already be using an email address as your login, but have a different contact email address on the account. The contact email address is the email you need to enter for this new login process. If you don't know what that email address is, you can troubleshoot here.
